BRAIN O WAVE
A calmer homework routine
A practical starting point for conversations with children and educators.
PARENT GUIDE
Make the task clear.
Start with the instructions
Ask the child to explain what the task requires. If the instructions are unclear, review them together before beginning.
Agree a manageable next step
Help the child identify the first part of the task. Encourage an attempt before stepping in with an answer.
Notice where help is needed
Distinguish between difficulty understanding a concept, organising the work and reading the instructions. Share recurring difficulties with the educator.
Finish with reflection
Ask what became easier and what still needs practice. A useful conversation is more informative than checking whether every answer is complete.
